SAVE OUR OCCASIONAL CHILDCARE PROGRAMME!

The state government has announced that it will withdraw funding for the Take a Break Occasional Childcare Programme at the end of 2011. Our Occasional Childcare service is part-funded through this programme. The loss of this funding threatens occasional childcare provision at Nicholson Street and 119 other centres across the state. Our service will almost certainly close at the end of the year if this funding is not reinstated. If you are as outraged as we are, please contact your local member of parliament and express your concerns, or for more information, please contact our office.

The Association of Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres (ANHLC) has a page devoted to the campaign to get funding reinstated. The latest information can be found there.

Nicholson Street runs several programmes for children. Our Occasional Childcare service and 3 Year Old Activity Groups are designed for pre-kindergaten children, while our highly successful Kids Art programme is aimed at children from 6 to 12.

From time to time we programme other children's programmes, often during the school holidays.

No NSCH programmes run during the Christmas school holiday period.

Note: All publications linked on this page are downloadable as Portable Document Format (PDF) files. For links to PDF reader software, please see the sidebar at right.
